Docker Compose
A declarative tool for defining and running multi-container applications from a single YAML file.
Overview
Docker Compose reads a YAML file that describes services, networks, and volumes, then creates and manages them together. It is aimed at local development and small deployments where a full orchestrator would be excessive.
Where it fits
- Local multi-service development stacks
- Reproducible integration test environments
- Small single-host deployments
Key capabilities
- Compose file for services and dependencies
- One-command start, stop, and logs
- Environment-specific overrides
- Build and image management
